Crack Filling
Crackfill is a heated rubber solution that is pressed into cracks to bond both sides. We inject hot crackfill into cracked asphalt pavement to fill the crack. As the solution cools, it contracts and pulls the sides of the crack together with a water-proof seal.
Because of the adhesive constriction, crackfill fills the crack and prevents the asphalt from expanding to crack further along the same lines or create new cracks within the asphalt. This will maintain the integrity of your asphalt and keep your driveway or parking lot safe for years to come.
The hot applied rubber solution blocks all moisture from entering the crack from the top or sides. Water molecules expand when they heat up or freeze, then contract again. Moisture in the subbase of asphalt is the primary cause of pavement cracks, potholes, and depressions. This will cause expensive repairs or complete overhauls of compromised asphalt areas. Crackfill prevents moisture from getting into repaired cracks, protecting the rest of your asphalt from the effects of water.
Every driveway that is done by Blackedout Sealcoating will be crackfilled where the road meets the driveway even if no crackfill is required on the entire driveway or parking lot. Most compromised driveways or parking lots start at the beginning of the driveway due to water entering the cut and no protection being applied once the new asphalt is set. Towns DO NOT crackfill new asphalt to existing driveways and asphalt contractors need to wait at least a year to apply any asphalt maintenance products to a new driveway.
